Quiz

Chaucer’s historic book, The Canterbury Tales inspired the title for this book, The Travellers’ Tales. It also helped me with choosing names and occupations when I was stumbling with writers block.

Whilst travelling overland to Central Asia and India, it is inevitable you meet many people, to help find suitable characters I used a few of Chaucer’s pilgrims as inspiration.

This quiz is for you to identify some of them in The Travellers’ Tales.

I have listed a total of sixteen characters transported from the 1380s to the 1970s. Occasionally their names, but more obviously their occupation, dress code, and characteristics are used in the Travellers’ Tales.

You don’t have to read the original old English version of The Canterbury Tales! There are good analyses of the pilgrims in modern English on the internet.

Email me with your finds. I will let you know how well you have done. [email protected]
